Mother's Day Weekend - Recap

Ok, so you all know how crazy I am about taking pictures, right? Well, in 2 days, we managed to take over 300 pictures!!!! Since most were shot by me, I appear in only one, and it's definately not the best picture ever, but I guess I will share it. Even though it was Mother's Day, I was just not in a picture-posing-kinda mood, so I'm sad to say that there are no pictures of me and my kiddies together on Mother's Day. Oh well! Some other time, I suppose!

I've been going through the pics, and there is so much work to be done! I want to edit a few for printing, but the extent of the edits that I have done for now is a bit of cropping. (Curt really needs to learn how to shoot a picture! Ever heard of framing your subject?!?! LOL! Sorry hun, if you're reading this, but it's the truth!)

It was hard for me to choose just a few, so I appologize if I once again overload you with pictures!

Here's how it all went down...........

Friday night Curtis gave me my Mother's Day gift; an iPod Nano! I was so excited (but also a little bummed cause I NEVER get gifts on the "actual" day of something, it's always before or after) but he explained that he wanted to give it to me early so that I could load it and set it up the way I wanted it so that I could enjoy it on our trip, which made perfect sense!

Saturday morning the kids slept in a bit and, as a result, so did we, so we were rushing around like mad trying to get everything packed and ready to go. We managed to get out of the house by 10 am. (A little later than we would have liked, but oh well!) We had a few stops to make in Bellingham and were "officially" on the road by 11:30 am.

We took the long way around, and stopped in Winthrop. It's such a neat little town! You feel like you stepped into an old Western when you go to this town. It's all boardwalks, and old Western fronts on the stores. You half expect a gun-fight to start up in the street, or a gang of rustlers to come riding in on their horses!

I totally forgot to get any pictures of the buildings for you. I have a ton from other trips when we've stopped in there, but I'm way too lazy to dig through boxes to find the discs so that I can share them with you. (Sorry!) But, that being said, I did take a few pictures of the kids having fun, running around and burning off some of their pent up energy from being in the car for 4 hours!

Daddy and the kids with the creepy wooden guy and his nasty looking ice cream cone!

Kingston was having so much fun running away from me and trying to put garbage in his mouth that this was one of the only pictures I got of his face when he was down on the ground!

He didn't like being in the saddle, he wanted to run around!!!!

Kendra LOVED being in the saddle, but REFUSED to look at the camera! We had a hard time getting her off the saddle, but a bribe of ice cream did the trick!

My little cowboy, walking off into the sunset!

After eating and about a half hour of playing keep-away with Kingston and every gum wrapper, dirty spoon, rock, piece of chewed gum, and various other nasty things that he INSISTED on trying to put in his mouth, we packed the kids back into the car and headed on to Leavenworth.

The kids were once again so anxious to get out of the car that we didn't even bother trying to wrestle them into put shoes on them for them to run walk up to our hotel room.

I don't know what my camera and I were doing in these pics, but for some reason only one kid is in focus in each of them! Grrr! Otherwise, they are super cute pics!

All four of us sleeping in one hotel room was an experience! Kingston and I are both VERY light sleepers, so we both spent the night pretty much awake. That made for one very tired Mamma and one very tired baby boy come morning! (This is probably the main reason that I was just not in a picture-posing-kinda mood!)

Kingston took away a lovely souvenier from our trip; a nice big goose-egg in the middle of his forehead! He and the headboard on the hotel bed had a few run-ins, and unfortunately, he came out on the losing end of both those fights!

We called him our "Baby Rhino" for the rest of the trip, cause that bruise just got bigger and more bulgy as the day went on!

Here are a few scenery shots for you! Leavenworth is just gorgeous and is in the most perfect location! I love it there!

Mother's Day happened to be during their "Maifest" so there were quite a few things to do in town that day! They had some fun things for the kids to do (well, for Kendra to do) and they were also having a Mother's Day raffle for prizes. Your child was supposed to enter your name to win, and here's how Kendra thinks my name is spelled!

(Surprisingly enough, I did win something!!!! I hardly ever win things, so I was pretty exicted! I won a gift certificate from a local pizza joint for a large pop, large pizza, a salad and an order bread sticks! So, on the way home, we stopped in and ate the salad and a few bread sticks, and we packed up the pizza to bring home! Pretty awesome, eh?)

We walked around town for pretty much the whole day. We stopped in at all our favorite shops. Got some great horseradish dip from our favorite spice shop, got the kids a few handmade wooden toys at our favorite toy shop, and got ourselves each a hat from our favorite hat shop!

But here is the one thing that kept us going:

What would we do without Starbucks?!?!?!

After being in the stroller for more than 5 hours (with the exception of potty breaks) we had to let the kids out to run around and burn off some steam before we could even think of sticking them in the car for the 3.5 hour drive home (we took the short way home!).

I love these pictures of them at the park! It was a gorgous day! Nice and warm and so sunny!!! My kind of day!

Check out Kendra getting some air under her feet! LOL!!!!

And last, but not least, here is a picture of "yours truly" sporting my new hat, and looking very unimpressed to be in a picture!

I will be uploading more pictures (yes, MORE pictures) to Facebook in the next day or so, and will post the link here incase you are wanting to see more.

Thanks for letting me share my wonderful Mother's Day weekend with you. It was the best so far, and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with just "us four and no more"!

I love how many pictures your post has in it. Great shots Melissa! The kids outfits are always so stylish and cute as a button.

We need to have "family day outs" like this. You guys had such a great time and the kids will always remember moments like this that brought you closer together.

Your hat is FABULOUS! Not to mention your facial expression is hilarious.."would you just take the picture already"! LOL!

Last but not least - Kingstons little boo boo made my bottom lip poke out. Poor little guy. Glad that it was minor and you guys had a memorable fun time. :o)
