My Dear Kendra,
Five years sure have gone fast! I was looking at your baby pictures the other day, and remembering how small you were. And now look at you! You're getting so big. You're so tall and so gorgeous. You really have come a long way since that night when I got to see you for the first time.
Now that you're 5, life will start to get pretty busy for you. We're looking forward to starting Kindergarten in the fall. Mama has been trying to work with you and get you ready for school. You just don't seem too keen on learning boring things like your numbers and your ABC's. I'm hoping that soon you'll start to pick it up. I'd hate for you to be the only kid in Kindergarten to not know the basics. But, I'm sure that when you're ready, you'll pick it right up.
You've been asking Mama almost daily for a baby sister or baby brother. So Mama told you that if you want her to have another baby, then you need to start helping out with Kingston a bit more. Most times, all I have to do is say, "Kendra, do you want Mama to have a new baby??" and you straighten right up.
You're learning to become a real drama queen and learning to use your words to express your feelings! You've got some lip already, girlie! Trust me, we don't let you get away with it. It may seem mean now, but you'll thank me for it some day. I can't imagine what you'd be like in 8 years if we just allowed you to run your mouth off at this young age!
And so, my dear, sweet, baby girl, here's to another wonderful year with you in our lives. Let's enjoy it, ok?
I love you, my "Kenna Bo-Benna"! xoxoxox
Love, Mama

Here's a song that my Mom used to sing to me, and that her Dad used to sing to her. It's called "Daddy's Little Girl", but my Mom changed it up a bit for me, and I sing it for Kendra. She calls it, "Kendra's Song".
You're my pot of gold
You're Mommy's little girl
To have and to hold
A precious gem is what you are
You're my bright and shining star
You're the Spirit of Christmas
You're the star on the tree
You're the Easter bunny
To your Daddy and me.
You're sugar, you're spice
You're everything nice
And you're Mommy's little girl"
